The Tenno

The system’s last honest weapon. What they are is a harder question than what they can do.

Overview

Warriors of blade and gun, masters of the Warframe armor. The Tenno ended the Old War, survived the fall of the empire that made them, and woke from a long cryosleep into a system that fears them in every language it has.

They answer to the Lotus, keep their own counsel, and are the only faction in the record whose purpose is not expansion. This much is public truth, and the archive attests it gladly.

The rest of this record, when it entered the public account, rearranged the meaning of every other entry in this archive. It is told whole below.

The Second Dream

The Second Dream

The frame is not the warrior. It never was.

Every Warframe moves because a child of the Zariman reaches through the Void and moves it, and has for ten thousand years, from the Reservoirs of Lua. The Orokin called the bridge Transference. They built it so their most feared weapon could be wielded from beyond harm's reach, and so the wielders would never have to be looked at.

Hunhow spent an eon of patience trying to make that secret into a grave. The mountain opened. The dreamers woke. The system's deadliest myth turned out to be someone's children, which explains, better than any armament record, why nothing in the Origin System has ever been able to predict them.

The War Within

The War Within

Waking was the easy part. The War Within is the record of the Tenno claiming the change itself: the Void answering them without armor, without a frame, without the Lotus's hand steadying the door. It also records the discovery of what the Grineer Queens wanted their bodies for.

From this point in the record, the Tenno are not a weapon that survived its makers. They are a power in their own right, and every faction's plans quietly acquired a new failure mode.

The Erased Childhood

The Old Peace

The Dark Refractory returned what no Tenno knew had been taken: a childhood in Tau. The Operator studied at Tauron Academy on the moon Perita, in the years of the Old Peace, and their closest friend was Adis, a Sentient the Xenoflora had made an individual. The friendship ended the way the peace did. Ballas's sabotage burned the Xenoflora, the war that followed put the two friends on opposite sides of it, and Adis was mortally wounded fighting the Operator. How he came to stand on the war's side of the line, the memory as held here does not say, and the archive does not say it for him.

Then Margulis erased Tau from the child entire. Her reasons are not preserved in the archive's holdings, and it declines to assign her any. That is the record's answer to a ten-thousand-year question, why no Tenno remembered the war's true beginning. One seam stays open. The Zariman record and this one do not yet close over each other in the archive's holdings, and how the children of a Void-lost vessel came to a Tau schoolroom is a gap honestly held, not stitched with a guess.
