Hunhow

An old god of machines, buried at the bottom of an ocean, patient as sediment.

Overview

This record begins, as the modern era's did, with an excavation. Grineer deep-sea operations on Uranus began recovering artifacts of impossible age from the ocean floor. Then something in the data began recovering them.

What the drills had found was attested only later. The name in the sections that follow reorganized the system's entire understanding of the Old War's aftermath.

Natah (2015)

The Father Below

The Second Dream

Hunhow: among the eldest of the Sentients, a war-leader of the Old War, shattered in that war and entombed in Uranus's ocean. Broken, not dead. For his kind the distinction matters. He is the father of Natah, and he sent his daughter to finish what his war could not.

His patience is the strategic fact of him. From the seabed he reached into the system's shadows and found its most famous grudge: the Stalker, to whom he gave purpose, passage, and a sword. When Cephalon Suda's archives threatened his designs, he tried to unmake her weave from within. The record notes, with something like respect, that the librarian held.

Natah (2015) · The Second Dream (2015) · Octavia’s Anthem (2017)

For a decade of records Hunhow was an ending: the war's great unburied grudge, whispering upward through an ocean. Constellations closes his entry the other way. He surfaced beside the Stalker, of all allies, a father lending patience to a father, and when the Indifference held two broken futures at war for its own amusement, Hunhow paid the closing price: his memories, given whole, the way his daughter once gave what she was for the children she chose. The rhyme is exact, and the archive does not believe in accidents of that size.

What rose from the trade builds instead of breaking: an architect of worlds, new-made and unremembering. He does not know the Tenno anymore. His farewell trusts them with Natah anyway. The archive files the trade without editorial, and does not entirely manage it.
