The Orokin Empire

The empire that owned the Origin System so completely it mistook itself for permanent.

Overview

At its height the Orokin Empire held every world from the Sun to the Outer Terminus. Its towers were grown, not built. Its law was beauty, and its beauty was terror. Beneath the gold sat a civilization of castes: Executors ruled, Archimedians discovered, and the Dax fought without the freedom to disobey.

Everything in the modern system is either a ruin of the Orokin, a weapon of the Orokin, or a wound the Orokin left behind. The Grineer were their labor. The Corpus temples are built on their salvage. The Sentients were their ambition, come home to collect.

The Price of Forever

The War Within

The Empire's rulers did not intend to die. Their quietest institution was called Continuity: the practice by which the Orokin elite persisted beyond the failure of their bodies. Kuva was its instrument. A favored few outlived generations by wearing them.

The Grineer Queens are not imitators of the Orokin. They are survivors of them, the last practitioners of Continuity, ruling a clone empire with a stolen scepter.

The War Within (2016)

The Empire did not fall to the Sentients. It survived them, barely, and then fell to its own instruments at the hour of its victory. The record of that final ceremony is kept under the Old War entry. What matters here is the shape of the lesson: everything the Orokin made to save themselves was made too well, and none of it loved them.
